Richard M. Kaudy
Rich began practicing law after graduating from the University of Denver Law School in 1982. He served with well-respected insurance defense firms in Denver, Anstine & Hill, P.C., 1983-1986, and White and Steele, P.C., from 1986 until 2004, when he formed The Kaudy Law Firm to focus more on policyholder struggles to obtain benefits.
During his tenure with insurance defense firms and on behalf of plaintiffs, he has tried numerous cases to verdict on matters involving insurance bad faith, products liability, automobile and truck collisions, and premises liability. He has handled complex and complicated class actions as well as serving as an expert witness and arbiter in numerous matters.
Rich is an expert in handling insurance and claim-handling matters both on behalf of insureds and insurers. He has provided expert opinions in this field, where he donates fees from this service to various charitable causes including Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). Rich has handled thousands of cases involving personal injuries and corporate misconduct including class-action lawsuits.
In addition to litigating a variety of cases, Mr. Kaudy has taught numerous seminars and workshops in several states including Colorado, Texas, Oregon, California and Arizona. He has been a guest lecturer in law and medicine classes at the University of Denver College of Law and for CPCU classes.
In his spare time he spends time fly fishing and scuba diving. The Kaudy Law Firm, LLC is the exclusive distributor of the Rim Chung-designed RS-2, who many believe to be one of the best mayfly emergers ever developed.
Education
Rich received his law degree from the University of Denver in 1982, where he served on the Law Journal as a general editor. In 1976 he received his undergraduate degree in Journalism with honors from the University of Montana. He served as general reporter covering politics and science for The (Butte) Montana Standard, owned by Lee Enterprises. As a reporter, he earned the Exceptional Reporting citation from the Montana Associated Press in 1977. He served one year with The Rocky Mountain Business Journal before matriculating at the University of Denver College of Law.
Memberships
Rich is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association, Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association for Justice. As a former CDLA president he can be an emeritus member, but in light of him representing policyholders more than insurers he is no longer a member.
